This was a truly shocking find and looks like it may have been stupidly dumped in a shallow mud pit. This looks to have dried out and the grass has started to re-grow all around where there is broken glass, mainly beer and wine bottles. All around this area is bone dry grass and heather, with livestock grazing too. This was a disaster waiting to happen and all on a water catchment area. Lord knows how many tons of lead-shot have covered this area over say a century, (for talking's sake) whilst game bird shooting has always gone on. I'm told the right people were informed of this and that the fire hazard has been cleared up. I can only hope this information is correct.
http://orv.is/W2Kgce One of the great things about having our offices located in the mountains of southwestern Vermont is that we have pretty much instant access to the outdoors. Last week, a few us of took a long lunch to chase grouse on a hillside behind my house. Orvis Rod & Tackle Manager Steve Hemkens brought his dog, Cayenne, and Eastern ELOG Coordinator Scott McEnaney brought Diesel and Ghillie. My friend Brew Moscarello, who owns Vew-Do Balance Boards, rounded out our party. It was a little slow—we put up three birds but didn't get off any shots—but the dogs performed well, it was a gorgeous day to be in the woods, and we all felt energized when we got back to work. Dogs: The field-bred Springers, Ghillie and Cayenne, are from wildwindkennels.com. (Cayenne is the lighter of the t...

Quick video on some grouse I encountered this winter. This was in beginning of March. I like how the male dances around and how they can be good at hiding in trees. Roadsides are great places to observe these birds as they like to use the small rocks in the gravel for their digestive system.
For over 20 years now Scotland's most famous bird, Gilbert The Famous Grouse, the iconic bird which adorns every bottle of Scotland's favourite blended whisky, has entertained us in numerous Famous Grouse TV Adverts. I have edited together all the Famous Grouse TV adverts from over the years that I could get my hands on, 39 in total. Over the years Gilbert has had everything thrown at him, from female admirers, Scotland's temperamental quick changing weather, he has even had the red carpet treatment yet his feathers have remained completely unruffled. The music accompanying the Famous Grouse TV ads has become equally iconic and memorable with each note of the Famous Grouse theme tune playing like a drop of whisky splashing on a xylophone, it even sounds refreshing and relaxing. There are...
https://www.facebook.com/grousetheband/ https://grousetheband.bandcamp.com/ Cheers to Jared Leibowitz, Louis Fowler, Nachers, Noah and everyone else who helped us out with the clip. Lyrics: We weren't born in a weather board with a fly screen on the front door smokin ciggies till we feel sick lying on the porch till we fall asleep I wouldn't trade it for anything i wouldn't wish for a different land wrappin our lips around a beer as we jangle all over the sand we didn't have a gumtree on our street no red dirt getting on our feet couldn't ride our bikes to school couldn't claim we're from somewhere cool I wouldn't trade it for anything i wouldn't wish for a different land wrappin our lips around a beer as we jangle all over the sand
Here is a quick edit from a few nights ago up at grouse parks.

Well, the wedding is also 1000 meters in the sky, on top of Vancouver's Grouse Mountain, in the midst of white snow and dreamy winter wonderland.
